'l'he COmlC1l or the City or Palo .Alto does ordain a.s follows:
Section 1 .. ·Section 3.33 or. Ordi:nanee No. 1316, the •subdivi
sion t$dinanci? ot the City of' Palo Al.to, hereby is amended to·
read as follows:
See. 3 .. 33. Subdivision· ot Land into Less ~n 5 L<2_,ts
The Planning Offieer may approve an application to.
subdivide lands into less than 5 lots. Before such ap
proval may be given, such applicat-ion must be approved
'by t-he City En-gineer :1 the Chief Engineer ror Gas-Water
Sewer, and tbe Chief' Engineer for Light . and Power. The
applicant shall submit a map or the land to be subdiVided,
containing 1nformat1.on as shall be required by said
Planning Of'1":1cer.. All lots created by such subdiv:Ls:1on
shall. have trontage .. upon a street dedicated as a public
at·reet .or upon a private street or easement which uaeetc
thii re·qw.reaaents of this ordirlance for_ streets and high
ways, prov1de1.:,;:hat the Planning Ot:ficer may approve not
more than one "lot without frontage on a publi.c street if
such lot has a permanently open vehicular way uv~ le~a
than 12 feet in width, prov1d1ng aceeaa to a public street11
and confo~ in all respects to the open space regulations
or the district in which it is situated. Lots having an
area of less than 12 11 000 square feet may be divided into
not more tham two lots of equal size.
The Planning Officer shall have authority 1n grant
ing auch application to impose such conditions as are
deemed nec~ssary to protect ·the best 1ntarests of the
surrounding property or nei.ghborhood. consistent with the
general'"purpose and intent of this ord.1nanee11 including,
but not limited to, adequate provisions for fire protec
t1on11 easements for public utilities and improvements of
all proposed streets to the standard prescribed in the
Subdivision Ordinance or such l-:~sser standards as may be
,approved by said Planning Officer.
Before such subdivision is approved, the applicant
. shall pay all ur.paid county and municipal taxes except
taxes not yet payable. ·
-The Planning Officer ehall make a monthly report to
the City Manager of action taken on all applications toade
under this section. A copy of such report shall also be
forwarded .to the C1ty,Counc11 and the Plaru:ing Commission.
J. denial of such applicat-ion may be appealed to the
Planning Commission which# arter due consideration, may
recommend to the City Council that such application be
approved or disapproved.
The above and foregoing ordinance wa_s duly and regularly intro
duced at a regUlar meeting or the CoWlcil of the City of Palo Alto
