the C11;;i'O'f IJa'IO Alto_. hereby is amet.ld:ed by adding_ thereto a new
article to be dea11;nated ll Article 14A11 and tc read as follows:
tt ART.ICLE ll~A. Il~IATE fJtANUFA~G DISTRICT
Sec. 14A. 01 This d1.str1ct is designed to accommodate a
number of manulfacturing, ·wholesale and ser-.
vice usea whic:h do not depend on frequent
personal v1s1 t.e of customers or clients and
are therefore appropriate for locatic<Il on a~ .
major traffic street or highway. These use:s
do not include residences, apartments or
commerc:lal uses of a primary retail nature
other than gasoline service stations.
Sec. l4A.02 Such uses may not.be offensive by reason of
the emission of dust, ;as, smoke: noise,
fumes 1 odors, or vib:r~1 tiona, or otherwise;
and provided further_. that prior to the
issuance or a building permit_. the· Building
Inspector may require eviden.ce that. ade
quate controls, measures, or devices have
beeu provided to insure and protect the
public interest, health~ comfort, conven
ience, safety .. and general welfare from such
nuisances.

general rules set forth in Article 22 shall
