AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 11491 THE PALO .AJ,'J:O BUILDING COD!:,
REGULATING FIXEJ? Ml:."TAL AWN~GS .
The Council of the C1ty or Pa:Lo Alto does ordain a.s follows:
Section l. Section 4505 or Ol.'dinance No. 1149, the Palo Alto
Building COde, hereby is aroendP.d by adding thereto a new section to be designated Section (h) and to read as follows:
"Section (h) FIXED METAL AWNINGS.
Fixed metal awnings or hoods may extend over the
public street when the maximum proJect!on rrom the
property line doea not exceed 5 feet or 2/3 of the width of the sidewalk which~ver produces the smaller
projection for one story buildings. One foot or addi
tional awning or hood width may be added for eacb story
above the first, with the majomum width eight feet (81 -O") or 2/3 of the width o:t the sidewalk, whichever is smaller. No pa:-t of the awning or hood frame shall
be les.s than 8 feet above the sidewalk or -groWld imme
diately below ai:iit the lowest !;)art of any awning or hood
vale nce shall b~iess than 1 reet above the sidewalk or
ground illiU!ed1ately below.
"Pixed metal awnings or hoods shal:!. be designated to
resist 20 lb&. live load uniformly distributed over the projected area ."

The above and foregoing ordinance was duly and regularly
1ntroduced at a regular meeting of the Council of the City or
Palo Alto on Monday, the 9th day of November, 1953, and was
thereafter, on Monday, the 23rd day of Now>m~:ier, 1953, duly t,,.
and regulat'ly passed by the following vote; ~.
