Tbe Council ot the City ot Palo Alto does orda!n as follows:
Sec~ion l •. Article 20 ot · Cod1!'ied Ordinance No. 5 of the
City of f81o Alto hereby is amended· by a.d<Ung thereio "two new sections to be delSignated Sections 20. 09 and 20 .10· and to read
as follows:

No pe:r:son shall 'l)ut, pla'ce, aweep, thrC»r, brw1h or in
any other manner deposit. any rubbish, dirt, debris or discarded material of any kind oi.• cbaracte1• upon any side
walk, 'street, a.lley., gutter or other place 1n the City,
nor shall any per:ton throw, sweep or br ush any sidewalk
rubbish, paper sweepings or dirt from any r esidence or
other building onto any ~Mewalk, street or alley.
f') Sec. 20 .10. OBLIGATIO?i' TO CLEAN SIDEii AI.JC.
The occupant or tenant, <Yr in the abaenc:e of an occupant
or tenant, the owner or a.ny real estate in Palo Alto in
front or which there is a paved sidewalk shall keep said
sidewalk free or dirt, del>r1s s.nd litter-;. Sw~epings trom
said B1dewalk shall not be swept o·r otherw:Lso ma.de or
allowed' to go 1nto the street ~ut shall be di~posed or
by the person responsible for the cleaning or said side
walk."
The above and foregoing ordinance was duly and regulax-ly introduced at a reg-~lar meet1.ng of the Council o~ the City of
Palo Alto on Monday, the 9tb day of Novccber, 1953, an~
was thereafter,. on Monday, the 23rd day or ~ovember, 1953,
duly and regularly passed by the following vote:

Ruston, Marshall, Jllitchell, Por·ter, Simpson, .Wickett.
