AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
AMEm>D!''l ARTICLE 15 OP ORDINANCE NO. 1324
THE "ZONING ORDINANCE"
The Council of the City of Palo Alto does ordain as follows:
Section 1. That Article 15 or Ordinance No. 1324, the "Zon
ing Ordinance" of the City of Palo Alto, hereby is amended to read as follows:
ARTICLE 15, L-M. Limited Manufactu:."ing District Regula~
Sec. 15.01 This district is designed to accommodate a
limited group or profe3sional, adm1nJ..strat1ve, x-e.search and manu!'acturing uses which may have
unu3ual requirements ro~ space, l i ght, and air,
and t he operations of ul".1ch are clean and quiet.
Sec~ 15.02 The following specific regulat ions and the
general rules set forth i n Ar~icle 22 shall apply in all L-M Districts.

(a) Professional and Administ rative Offices.
(b) Manufacturing, processing, assembling, or

dust, gas, smoke, noise, fumes, odors, or
vibrations, or otherwise ; and provided
further, that prior to the issuance or a
building permit, the Building Inspector
may require evidence that adequate controls, measures, er devices h<tve been provided to insure and px•otec1; the public
interest, health, comfort, convenience, safety, and genersl welfare :f2•om such nuisances.
Minimum Height, Bulk and Space Reguirements.
Lot Area: l acre.
Lot Width: 100 feet.
1'1ax1mum Building Coverage: 4~
Front Yard: 20 feet.
Side Yard: 20 feet, exc~pt that 40 feet shall be
reo\Ured for any building over one (1) stol_'Y or
25 .feet in height, when adjacent tc any "R" District.

Sec. 15.17 Automobile Parkin': One (1 ) car apace for each 250 sqU.Jre feet o building floor area exclusive
or hall s, rest roocs, vaults, elevator shafts,

Such parking spaces m~y not be located Within
the required front ,ya~d (Sec . 15.14) nor occupy
space provided in sat:Ls!act1ori of loading area require~ents (sec.·15.18).
Sec. 15.18 Loading Afoea1: One (1) permanently maintained
loading epace not le-s:! than ten (10) feet in
width, twenty {20), fe,,t in J.ength and fourt.!en {14) feet 1n height shall be pNvided for each
fortY thousand (40,000) feet of gross building
floor area or fraction thereof. All loading
space shall have ingr1~ss and egress from alleys or service drives. Roquired pa:rk1r..g space inay
not be s~bstit~ted rov loading apace. Loading
space may not be located in the required front
yard.
Sec. 15.19 Building Height Limit: Two {2) stories but r.ct
to exceed 35 feet . •
The above and foregoing ordinance w.1s duly and regularly intx·o
duced at a regular meeting or the Counc:L 1 of the City of Palo Alto
on Monday, the 9th day or November, 19:.3, and was thereafter on
Monday, the 23rd day or November, 19531 duly and regularly passed
by the following vote:
