APPROVING THE ANNElCATION OP CERTAIN UNINHABITED
TERRITORY' DESJGNATED AS "S':ANFORD UNIVERSITY lNNEX:.ATION NO. 3"

the "Annexation of.' On1ntAbited Terr11;ory Act ot 1939 , the Council
or the Ci ty or Palo Altc di d pass an<t adopt Resoluti on ?\o. 2481,
giving notice or the prcposal to annmt certain uni nhabi ted terri
tory to ~he City of Pale, Alto, said 1:err1tory bei ng ther-ein deSig
nated aa ~Stanford University Annexa1:1on No. 3", and said action
being taken b;r the Couno11 or satd Cl.ty as the . legislative body or
the City pursuant t o a written petit:l.on therefor, said Resolution describing the boundaries or the terx•itory so proposed to be annexed to said City; and
WHEREAS, by said lleaolution, published in the San Jose Mer
cury and the Palo Alto Times on Octolier 15 and October 20, 1953,
said Council duly gave nctice or and tixed the ninth day or Novem
ber, 1953, at 7:30 P.M. 1n the CouncU Chamber of the City Jiall,
Palo Alto, Calirorn111, as the day, hc1ur, and place when and wr.ere any person owning r eal property within such territory sc proposed
to be annexed and having any objecticms tc the proposed annexation
might appear before said Counctl and show cause why such territory
should not be so annexed; and
WHEREAS, said Council or said (:1ty <!id hear and pass upon all prot4'sts made to said proposed anne:imt1or. and d1d deterCline tl'.s.; no
protests to said propose~ annexation have been aiade by the owners
of one-half or the value of the terrttory propooed to be annexed
as shown by the last equalized assesi1ment roll; and
WHEREAS, said territory is contiguous to the Ci ty of Palo Alto and is uninhabited territory in the C:ounty or Santa Clara; and
WHEREAS, all proceedings have t•een in conformi ty w1 th law;
NOW, THEREF0RE, the Council of the City of' Palo Al tc does
ordain as foll~~s:
Section l. That pur:3uant to tl::te ''Annexati on of Uninhabited
Territory Act or 1939" the annexatiori of that certain uninhabited
te?"r1 tory contiguous to the City of l'e lo Al to, i n the County of
Santa Clara, State of California, designated as "Stanford Univer
$1ty Annexation No. 3" as hereinafter· more particularly described, hereby is approved.
Section 2. That s11d territory, after its ar.ne.xat1on to the
City of Palo Alto, s~.all be taxed equally ~1th the prop~rt~ within
the City or Palo Alto to pay the entire bonded 1ndebtedr.ess or the
Clty outstanding on the ~ate or such annexation or indebtedness
theretofore authorized and to be represented by bonds or the City
of ?alo Alto thereafter to be i ssued, or any indebtedness or liability or the City of Palo Alto contracted prior to or e~isting at
the t1n:e of such annexation.
Section r· The sald territory, tne annexation of which to
the City of pa o A:to is herein approved, is all that territory
situate 1n the County of Santa Clara~ State of Cal1forn1a, more particularly described aa follows :

Palo Alto on Mor.day, the 9th day of November, 1953, and
was thereafter, on Monday, the 23rd day o:!' November, 1953,
