M 0 ; . 4151. r i i I l ~ . 7~ OR DIN~NCE NO • .!i22 ~ AN ORDINANCE OP THE CITY OP PALO ALTO t ' ~ ~ f [ 'i i: t ~ l ~ < ~ ~ ,, ~ :, I l e ! t ~ ~ ~ (·, i ; ~ 1 " ! i ·I ~ f J : i r ( i l I I APPROVING THE ANNSXATIOH OF CERTAIN UNnraABITE!> TERRITORY DF.sIGN~T.ED AS "STAm'ORD .UNIVERSITY ANN:aATION NO. 2" WHEREAS, on the th:Lrteenth day of October, 195;}, pursuant to the "Annexation or Uninhab1ted •Territory Act o~ 1939 , the Council of the City of Palo Alto did pass and adopt Resolution No. 2480, gi ving notice of the proposal to annex certain un1nhabited terr1- tory to the City of Palo Al to, ·said te·rri tory being therein desig­ nated as "Stanford Unive:~sity An~exation No. 2", and said action being taken by the Counc:Ll or said Cit.y as the legislative body of the Ci t::r pursuant to a w1~i tten . peti ti<:on therefor, said ResoluUon describing the boundarieu of the territory so proposed to be annexed to said City; and WHERE.O.S, by said R1!Solution, published in the San Jose Mer·­ cury and t he Palo Alto T~~es on October 15 and October 20, 1953, said Council duly gave notice of and f'ixed the ninth •iay or Novem­ ber, 1953, at 7:30 P.M. !.n the Council Chamber of the City Hall, Palo Alto, California, au the day, hour, and place when and where any person owning real property within such t erritory so proposed to be annexed and having any objections to the proposod annexation might a?pear before said Council and show cause why such territory should ~ot be so annexed; and WHEREAS, said Coun•:il of said City did hear and pass upon all protests made to said pr •>posed annexation and did determine that no protests to said propose•1 annexation have been made by ~he owners or one-half of the value of the territory proposed to be annexed as shown by the la~t eqwllized assessment roll; and WHEREAS, said terrttory is contiguous to the City or Palo Alto and 1s uninhabited territory in the County or Santa Clara; and WHEREAS, all ?roce·ed1ngs have been in conformity with law; NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto does ordain as follows : Section l. That p :1rsuant to t he "A:nnexation of Uninhab1 te<l Territory Act or 1939" t .:1e annexation of that certain uninhabited territory c.ontiguous to '!:he City of Palo Alto in the C<>unty of Santl:. Clara, State of California, desigr.ated as "Stanf<)rd Uni•.rer­ sity Annexation No. 2" a1! hereinafter more particularl:r described, hereby is approved. Section 2. Th.lt said territory, a x•ter its a nnexation to the City of Palo Alto, shall be taxed equally with the property within the City or Palo Alto to pay the entir~ bonded indebtedness or the City outstanding on the <!ate of such annexation or indebtedness the!'etofore authorized and to be represented by bonds ?f the City or Palo Alto thereafter ·;o be issued, or a-,y indebtedMss or l1a­ b1l1ty of the City of Pa:~o Alto contracted prior to <.>r eXist1ng at the time of such annexat~on. Section 3.
