NO. 5, PROVIDING POR THE F.8TABLlSHMBNT OF TRUCK ROUTES •
The Council of the Cit:y or Palo Alto DOBS ORDAIN as follows:
Section l. Al"ti<:le 19 of Codin ed Ordinance No. 5 of the
City or Palo Alto hert:by 1S Hended ty adding thereto a new
section to be designated Section 19. ;6:
"Sec . l 9 . 36. TRUC:K ROU'l'&S.
(a) The following named streets are hereby declared
to be truck t:raff1c routes tor the movement or -;'ehieles
exceeding a n~x1mum weight er three (3) tons, and the City Engineer 13 hereby authorized to designate
such streets by appropriate signs as "truck route"~

(b) When any such t r uck tra~ric route or routes are designated by appropriate s1~s, th~ operator or ani vehicle exceeding a maximum gross limit or three (3) tons shall drive on such route or routes and none other
except that nothing in this section s~.all prohibit the
operator of tn1 vehi cle exceedinf a maximum gross weifht
or three (3) tons coming from a Trt<ck (Traffic Route
having ingress and egress by direct route to and from
restricted streets when necessary for the purpose or making pi~kups or deliveries of goods, wares and
merchandis~ f)r or to any bu1ld1ng or structure located on such restr.l.cted streets or for the purpose 01·
delivering materials to be used in the actual and
bona fide rep.1ir, alteration, remodeling or construction
ot any buildi':lg or structure u;>on such restricted streets for which a b·nlding permit has pre\•iously been obtained
therer-or.
( c) The prov.Ls ions or this section shall not apply
to passenger ')uses under the Jurisdiction of the Public
Utilities o:»mluiss1on or to any vehicle o'med by a public utility while necessarily in use in the ~onstruct1on,
ina:tallat ion, or repair of any such utiHtY:."
