N 0 • 1487 AN OP.DINANCE OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO AMEWING ARTICLE 2 U OP ORDINANCE No . 1324, "THE ZONING ORDINANCE". The Council of the City of Palo Alto does ordain as follows: Section l. Th~t Article 21A of Ordinance No. 1324, the "Zoning ordinance", hereby is amended to read as follows: "ARTICLE 21A. "R". RESTRICTED MUL'l'IPLE FAMILY DISTRICT REGULATIONS . Sec. 21A.Ol T.~is district is design~d to permit t he orderly transition and ~evelo?ment or cer­tain Single Family Residence Districts to Multiple Family uses according to a pat­ tern and under conditions which would en­ courage only the rnost desirable type of development, recogn1z1ns that the arch1- tectural quality and th~ residential char­ acter or certain streets and districts in the City or Palo Alto s hould be preserved, protected and enhanced 1r. the best interests or the health, safety a~d general welfare of its citizens. Sec . 21A-02 Restricted Multiole Pam.1ly Dwellings, Dei'1n1- tions: A Restri~ted Multiple F4mily Dwelling shall mean a two, three or !'o·ir family dwelling or apartment house constructed or ~emodeled so as to meet all of the requirements of t he Building Code, the PlumJ1r.g Code, the Elect­ rical Ordinance and the Gas Appliance and Heating Ordinance or th~ City of Palo Alto for new construction .and subject to such additional conditions and restrictions as may be recommended by t~e Planning Commiesion and approved by the Ci t:f Co1mc1l in harmony with the purpose and int ent of this 'Article. Sec. 2lA.03 Uses Permitted: (See Also Sec. 22.05.) (a) Any residential ~SP. permitted in the resldent1al zones :ln which or in con­ junction with which the "R" District is established. Sec. 21A.04 Uses Requir!ng Use Permi~s as Provided in Article 21: (a) Uses requiring a Uae ~ermit 1n dis­ tricts combined wi~h "R" District. (b ) Restr1c~ed M-~lt1ple Fa:nily Dwellings.
