WHXftEA.S, the City Engineer has condllcted an enginee:ring
and traffic survey; that the prima rac1e speed limit or 55
miles per hour is more than is reasonable or sate upon the
herein described portion or M1ddlefielcl R:>ad.
The Council of the City or Palo Alto DOBS ORDAIN as follows:
Section 1. The Council hereby d.ete:1•mi~es and declare&,
upon the basis or said engineering and tr.:tff1c survey, that
a prima racie speed limit of 55 miles per hour is more than
is reasonable and sate upon the f ollow~ng described portion
of Middlefield Road, and hereby determ!.ne1s and declares a
prima facie speed l1mi t of 35 miles pet• h•:>ur is reasonable and sate; that said prima faci e speed liulit shall be effective
when appropriate s igns giving notice t her1,of are erected upon
the follOW1ng described street :
Middlefiel d Road between Hatadero Creek
and a point 400 feet nor th o:~ S&n Antonio Road.
The aoove and foregoing ordinance wns duly and regularly
introduced at a regul ar meeting of the Cc1mcil of the City
of Palo Alto on Monday, the llth day of May, 1953, and on the ea.me date all rules were waived and tli.e ordiMnce was
adopted as an emergency ordinance by t tte f ollowi ng vote:
