Tba·t a general municipal elec-;ion was duly celled and held
in the City ot'Palo Alto on ~ 8, 1951, for the purpose of elect
ing fi~e councilmen or sa!d city for ;i term or six yean, and one
councilman for a term of two years, a.'ld f\.lrther Tor the submission
to the electors of~ reterendum ·or t~~t portion of the zone map
included 1n the new zoning·:·ordinance, which extended the central
:busines8 diett'ict easterly fro'm Cowpe·r Street.
· " That th~ election boards of the several precincts have
duly certified the re.sults of 'said election to thls Council, and
this Coun¢1l hav1ns duly examined and canvassed ·the same, finds
that Stanley .Bishop.,, Clifford H. Simpson, George Sidney Drysdale ,
James G., Marshal-1 and Jerome T'. Bowde!l, having rt~ce1 ved a ma:jori t y
of the votes cast at said eleetion, "'!'Ire duly and regularly elected
for a term of' six years, cio1t.1Cenc1ng J·il7 l , 1951, to serve as
councilmen for ~aid city, and that Ra·.rp Miller, having recei~ed a ma.Jori~Y of the votes-cast at said e lection was duly and regularly
elected for a term or two years, com111'?nc1pg July l, 1951, to serve
as councilman, and it is hereby decla::-ed that the above named
candidates are duly· and reg-~larly elected councilcien for the
ter111S abo7e set forth. Sai~ board fu::-ther finds that a majority
of the vote's cast at said eleetion we::-e cast in favor of Ordinance No. 1324 known as the Zoning Ord1nanco of the City of Palo Alto,
and particularly tbat p~rtion or the ordinance which was sub-
~ tted ,to the .efectorate at the abo~e mentioned 1nun1e1pal elec-
tion, whi~h ··axtended the: cer.tral b'Usiness district ·easterly .from
C~r Street in th'e area bounded by Uverett Court, Vebster
etreet alld, Hollier Avenue, an<t therefore the referendum duly and
regl.ilarly su~lldtted by petition as pr ovided in t:'le Palo Alto C1ty
· Charterl failed to pass and the zonint. ordinance, being Ordinance
N<:t. 1324, is duly declared to be in effect as passed by the City
Connc11:.o'n Pebruary i9; 1951 . Tbe Cit.y Clerk 1s directed to
post th:J.3 ordinance o:t. the: Bulletin Bciard in the City Hall and
the same st~ll go into effect immediately.
