That Section 18.33 of Codified 0:-:•d!.nan,~e .No. fi~e of
the C1ti of Palo· Alto,. entitled "Animals· Suspected of Hav~ing
.Rabies, be amen~ed to read as follows:

Sec. \18.33. Animals Suspecte? ·Of HaviJ:'!g Rabies~
lfhehever the owner or person in control·. of any
an1oo.ar .is infc.,rmed that such animal has 'bitten a
hum.an being, or suspects that the animal 11:1 irl-..
. fected wi.th rab-1es~ he shall immediately J:""eport ·

an1~nal. Whenever the Health Officer is informed~
e1t:ler. by the owner or custodian of any animal c1r by ~my other person, that the animal has bitten a t1:mrum being or that the animal may have rab~·/~s, .he
&hall cause such a.nimal to be isolated and C:'uar.snt:'.n•~d, ei th~r upon the premises of the ownez:. or c~.s1;odian t.he':reclf or s.t the Animal Shelter ai~i~ he
may\' deem . advisab1le, . for a period of 14 days .1 Dur
ing: such period thecar:t1mal shall be under the
obsje:z-va't!on of the Heal~~h Officer, and if it should
app~;·!ar at any ti-me duriJlg such period that the
an:lntal has >rabies_, the Health Officer shall caus•e
the animal to be destroyed. If at the end of thte
14-cay p~riod 1 t appea:rfl that the animal does • not
h.a·ve rabies, .. it shall :bE~ releas.ed upon :payment, tcp
the Poundmaster of 50¢ per day tor 1 ts ·:are duriJ!'lg

shall be cha:i~ged to an owner or custodian or an
animal who himself'., imrot~diately upon 1e~lrn1ng that

upon suspect:ing that the animal has rabies, repo1~ts
