,the jur1sd1ct;1on of the. City of Palo Alto Milk Inspection
Service or w:tthin a d.istrict that has been assigned to 1;he
City or Pa.lo Alto' Milk Inspection Service by the .Director of
Agriculture, as provided 1n the Agricultural Code[, and 1rliose
dairy farm 1::1 inspected by the Ci_ty of Palo Alto Inspec1;1on
Service i ·ahal:~ apply .. ror ·and obtain. a 12_a1el Fan~ ~,from
the Health Officer, as hereinafter provide . 1
. : . It s:t:~.all be unlawful for any person. to process, sell,
.or d.i;s.tr1bute any .markt:it milk or other fluid dairy-products in
the City of Palo Alto· without first having applied for and

Siec. 4003. APPLICATION FOR PERMIT.
, ·An appl1cat1otL for a Dairz Farm Permit or: a Da1r;:t

c 'Bepar'tment· upon forms supplied by the Health orr1cer and
shall d:es1gna:te the location ot:' the operations. to: 'be per
forraed1, the :nature of such operations and g~lve such other
1nform1:at1on a.s m9.y be required by said Heal1~h orricer.
Sec. 40C:4. : ISSUANCE OF PERMIT.

Sec. 4·006. STANDARDS AND P..EQUIREMENTS ..

shall be' ur.l.awful for any .person to• Pl:>Oduce, process, sell
or>·d1s-tr1bute any market milk or· othei~ fluid dairy products .ror:: hulm\n eonsu:mp~ion, un,leae such products conform to the
s.tandards and, :Z.O:eqirlrements for market milk or other fluid
dairy prdue'ts as provided by the Ag;ri:eultural Code~ Cali.rornfa Adlnin1strat1ve Code, and this Article .

All milk and cream and milk and cream included in

Sec. 4009.. PHYSICAL EXAMINATIO.NS.
'All personf'. engaged in handling milk or cream 1nei-
.:t,!.en.t:al to pasteurization, or in the pa:steurization thereof,
o>r :f'lu1d dairy products between the t111Ile or pasteurization
and :t1nal packaging, shall be free from any infections or
cont:agious disease as determined by a semi-annual physical
exan:r1hat1on performed by a physician licensed to practice
:'~med:Lc1ne in the State of California. Certificates of such
phYsical ·examinatior.. shall be prompt:'-.y filed with the Health o:rr:tc.er.
Sec. 4010. INSPECTION FEES.
Ev'ery person Q:Re.rati~g a m1lk plant .under the super
v.1s:lon ,or tha ·Palo Alto Healt.h ~partment shall pay to the
T:u Collector of the City of Palo Alto, on or before 'the
.... 20th day of each MOCth.t an inspection fee of 2 mills

the:rema1ning:port1ons C>f this Article .. The Council hereby
declares that-it would have passed this Article and each sec
tion, sub-:sect1on, sentence, clause, and phl~as.e thereof~
1~respect1ve or the fact that any one or 1'-o:re of such
s_ections, sub..:sect1ons, sentences, clauses, .. or phrases be
declared unconstitutional or invalid.
The above and foregoing ordinance was duly and regularly
introduced at a regular meeting of the Council or the Ci.ty of
Palo.Alto on Monday, the lOth day of April, 1950, and was thereafter~
