also known. as Ordinance No. 1149, be amended to read as fol.lows·:
(d) No flat signs,~~ projecting signs, bill
boards, bulletin board:s or other advertising
devices shall be erect:ed :1n any of the residen
tial districts of the City of :Palo ft..lto; provided,
however., that this sl'lElll not p:revent a person from
placing non-illuminated signs on the,inside or
~rindows on .premises-. in the l~Sidenti~ll districts
dlenoting. approved uses under the zon:Lng ordinance;
p:oovided :f"urthex• that churches and qtLa.s1-public
o~rganiza.tiona may affix display s1gnz:1 or bill
boards oT.t the premi sea., tthich displal~. devices shall
