• ORDINANCE NO. 4397 ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO AMENDING THE BUDGET FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 1996-97 TO PROVIDE AN ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATION FOR THE COMMUNITY SERVICES DEPARTMENT TO RECEIVE MATCHING GRANT FUNDS FROM THE CALIFORNIA ARTS COUNCIL WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of Section 12 of Article .111 of the Charter of the City of Palo Alto, the Council on June 24, 1996 did adopt a budget for fiscal year 1996-97; and WHEREAS, support for the visual arts is an important goal of City of Palo Alto; and Wr:REAS, the California Arts Council awarded the Visual Arts procrram of the Community Services Department a matching grant of $8,035 for exhibitions and education programs at the Palo Alto Cultural Center; and WHEREAS, the funds necessary to match the grant have been included in the Arts and Culture Functional area budget for 1996- 97; and WHEREAS, City Council authorization is needed to accept and expend the grant receipts, and to amend the 1996-97 budget as hereinafter set forth. NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto does ORDAIN as follows: SECTION 1. The sum of Eight Thousand Thirty -Five Dollars ($8,035) is hereby appropriated to non -salary expenses in the Functional Area Arts and Culture in the Community Services Department, and Grant Revenue is correspondingly increased. SECTION a. This transaction will have no impact on reserves. SECTION_ 3. As specified in Section 2.28.080(a) of the Palo Alto Municipal Code, a two-thirds vote of the City Council is required to adopt this ordinance. $EC:'ION Q. The Council of the City of Palo Alto hereby finds that this is not a project under the California Environmental Quality Act and, therefore, no environmental impact assessment is necessary. SECTION 5. As provided in Section 2.04.350 of the Palo Alto Municipal Code, this ordinance shall become effective upon adoption. INTRODUCED AND PASSED: January 27, 1997 AYES. Andersen, Eakins, Fazzino.
