That the last paragraph of Section 3707 of the Palo Alto Bu:ilding Code be a.mend~d to read as follows: The furnace room or rooms shall be located in the basem~nt o:r-cellar or any buildi.n& having a gravity system. The least horizontal dimension o.r such· _turne.ce room shall be s1,; ( 6) feet. The floor or the .furnace room shall be not less than seven (7) teet in the clear belov the bottom of the lowest joists o.f any floor under which lateral heat pipes from the furnace or furnaces are taken and .s:uch :f'loor shall be constructed of 1ncumbust1ble materials,. 2; That the following paragraph be added to Section 3707 ot: the Palo Alto Building Code: Furnaces of' the blower type may be 1nsta.lled 1n a furnace room on any floor of the building under the following requirements: (a.) The furr..ace room shall be in.suleted on walls and ceiling with materials approved for one­ hour fire resistive construction. (b) (c) (d) (e) (f) A clearns.ce of six (6) inches shall be ·required·a.round the sides and rear or the furnace when such furnace is entirely serviceable from the front. A clearance or twelve {12) inches is required from ail'S wood door or six (6) ine-'IJ.es .from a protected wood' door. Furnaces not entirely serviceable f:rom the front shall not be L"'lstalled in a furnace rpomnot.less than si:x (6) feet 1n the least dimension .. The door to furnace rooms shall be o~ sufficient size to per.mi t the removal and replacement of the fu...~ce. When the burner is located w!thin twelve inches of the floor 1 such floor shall be of in­ combustible material. Permanent ventilation in the furnace room cons1sting.of two op~~gs not less than one square foot of free area 1n each shall be P!"OV1ded..
