ORDINANCE AME1"Dn:G SECTION 1316 OF TEE PALO ALTO PLUMBING CODE
'l'he Councj .. l of the City of Palo Al tc DO ORDAIN as follows:
That Section 1316 of the Palo Al.to Plumb:tng Code be
amended to read as follows:
Sec. 1316. WATER h'"EATERS PROE!:SITED IN
BA·J:IH.ROOMS,. SLEEPING R00!'-13, OR CLOSETS. Gas ~.vater
heaters shall not be L~stalled in any bathroom,
clothes closet, garage or room used fo:r-~lleeping
pu:;!opoee3. Gas water heaters of the automatic
storage type equipped with safet;y pilot device may
be installed in c.ompe.rtments 24 inches 01• larger
in vidth a.r..d depth, provided. thtlt such compartment
is lined on walls a.J.d ce~.li.ng w~~th rigid mate'I'ia.l;
that no portion of the we.ter.heater be placed with
in 6 inches of any combustible 1ne.teria.l nor w1thir..
3 inches of pr-otected combustible ma.teria.l; that
the doo·r to the . compartment is ::?4 inches or la.rger
in ~idth to provide for the removal a.nd :replacement
of tl:'1e heater; thet the compartment be ventilated
either to the sub-floor space'or to the e:xterior
of the building by metal ducts each having a net
