Section 2. The Mayor of the City cf Palo Alto is
hereby authorized, empowered, and c.irected to execute eaid

In consideration of the covenants and agreements
herein..9.fter contained and on the part of both parties to be kept
and performed,. City and Board hereby agree as follows:
l. C:t ty is to psrtlc.ipate 1.n the State E:~ployees'
Retirement SystE-~m, subject to the provisions of the State Employees Y
Retireme:t:Lt Act.
2. C:tty shall participate in said .Ret1reL:ient System,
rn.a.1ng i t~!t eblployees members of said System~ f'rom ~md after

3. Employees of City in the following classes shall

3a. The prov1s1ons of Section 84 of the State
El"..IPloye~:~s' Retirement Act shall apply to t~mployees of City,
who become mer:ibers of said Retirement System.
4. Benef'its on account of prio1:-3er~ ... 1ce;. that is_,
service c.redit6d he:reun.der as rendered to C.ity prior to the
effectii;1·e date hereof, shall be allowed tc city firemen and
city policemen and to other employees, only as percentages
of' the :i::1·espective average sala.rie.s specified L'fl said Retirement

be equal to 100 per cent of the ana.logous percentages no'W' used

a. The sum of $16, 229. 06 PE~r annum., payable in
equal monthly or less frequent L~stallments

to the effective date hereof.
b. 5. 673 per cent of total s.9.lar1es p.s.id by City
each month to its employees who ar·e members
of sa.:i.d Retirement System, provided that only
salary earned as memoF.J.rs ,of said System shall
be included in said tot.al sala1"ies, and that
employees who a:::-e members of said :System sha.11
include employees who become membe::-s upon the
effective da.te. hereof and employee:~ who be
come members thereafter.

Contributions required of City and its employees shall
be subject to ,s.djust.ment by the B-Jard of Administration on ac
count of amend::nents to the State Employees 1 Retirement Act.., a.~
on account of ·~:xperience under the Retirement System, a.s determ
ined by the pe:ri.odica.l 1n~:est1gat10l1.1 YSluation and dete:r•:ni.nation
provided for by said Retirement Act.
6. Contributions required of ~1ty under para.graph 5
