ORDINANCE AMENDING BUILDING CODE WITH RESPE~~ TO FIRE ZONES
T'n.~~ Council of the City of Palo Alto DO ORDI\J:N as follows:
The. t Section 1601 {a) of the Building Code be amended to

SECTION l. Section 1601 {a) For the purpose of this ~'!ode,

Tvo a.nd. Thr>ee vi thin the Limits o:r 'the City c~f Palo Alto". Wherever
in such ordinance creating and es·~;a'bl1sh1ng !'ire zones, reference
is made to any fire zone, 1 t sha.l:t~ be cons tr\:.ed to mean one of the
thl'•ee. fire zones de·signated and r19fe1:•red to in this Chapter ..
SECTION 2.. T'.ri.&t tb.e presen·t Section 1E·03 be renumbered
16.04 .·arid the present Fire Zone No. Two shall be heres..rteZ" desig

(2.) Bulldinge located more i;b.a.n 4 feet, but less then 8

tha.n one.-hou.r fire-res1st1 ve con.s~;ruction.. Roofs of such 'bu.ild
ings s"hall be covered with a ~Fir~~ Retal"da.nt" roofing as set
forth 1.n. Section 4305.
(3) Buildings located more i;han 8 feet from adjacent
p:r-operty lines and over 16 feet £:~:-om buildings on the same prop
ert:r .may be or 'rype V Construction. Roofs of such. bui.ld1ngs ms.y
be covered with an ordinaryfl roor:Lng as set forth 1.n Section 4305.
(c) Alterations. Any building or structure which is
enlarg~~ altered, raised, :repairc~d c·r built upon shall be made
t.o co.mply with a.ll the require:men1~s c·f a new building or structure
