SECTION 2. Section 16.04.460 is hereby added to the Palo Alto
Municipal Code to read as follows:
"16.04.460 Section 8-102 AJ1ended Purpose.
Section H-102. of the State Historical Building Code
is amended to read:
"It is the purpose of this part to pro
vide alternative building regulations for the
rehabilitation, preservation, t"est.o:ration (in
cluding related reconstruction), or relocation
of buildings or structures designated as Cate~
gory I and II historic buildings. Such alter-
native building regulations are int~nded t.o
facilitate the restoration or cnange of occu
pancy so as to preserve their original or re
stored architectural elements and features, to
encourage energy conservation and a cost-
effective approach to preservat i.onr and to
provide for the eafety of the building occu
pants.""
SECTION 3. The Counci 1 finds that th is project w i 11 have no
s i.gniIIca'nt a·dvp~·l"c~ environmental impact.

SECTION 4. This ordinance shc:-11 become effective upon the
commencement of the thirty-first day after the day of its passage.
