ORDINANC~ OF 'l'HE COUNCIL OFT'HECITY OF PALO
ALTO AMENDING SECTION 2.08.100(a} OF ThE PALO
ALTO MUNICIPAL CODE WITH RESPECT TO REGULAR
HOLIDAYS ~y O~LETING ADMISSION DAY AND ADDING
MARTIN LUTHBR KING DAY
The Council of the City of Palo Alto does ORDAIN as follows:
SECTION l. Section 2.08.100 of the Palo J\lto Municipal Code
is hereby amended to read as follows:
2.08.100 eolidays and other special days.
(a) Regular holidays. The following days are
declared to be holidays on which municipal business
of the city shall be suspended:
Every Saturday and Sunday
Martin Luther King Day, the th1rd Monday in January
New Year's Day, January 1
Washington's Birthday, the third Monday in February
Memorial Day, the last Monday in May
Independence Day, July 4
Labor Day, the first Monday in September
Columbus Day, tne second Monday in October
Vetecans Day, November 11
Thanksgiving Day, the fourth Thursday in November
and the day following
Christmas Day, December ~5
In the event that any of the aforementioned days,
except Sunday itself, falls on Sunday, the following
Monday shall be considered a holiday. In the event
that any of the aforementioned days, except Saturday
itself, falls on Saturday, the prece~ding Friday shall
be considered a holiday.
SECTION 2. The Council hereby finds that this ordinance will
have no s1gn1ficant adverse environmental impact.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall become effective upon the
commencement of the thirty-first day after the day of its
passage.
