' • • 0Rorn11~:~I~AFNc.;HE 3:~~r OF PALO mo ORIGINAL AMENDING THE PARK REGULATIONS ORDINANCE TO PROHIBIT ~IRBS EXCEPT IN CITY PROVID~O BARBEQUes, FtRe RINGS AND OTHER SUCH FIXTURES WHEREAS, the City Council desires to ensure the safety, health, and welfa.re of all persons using City parks: and WHEREAS, the use of private, portab~e barbeques has c~used a potential risk to perso~s using the City's parks because ot the their mobility and possibility of spillage; NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of City of Palo Alto does ORDAIN as tollows: SECTION 1. Section 22.04.300 of the Palo Alto Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as tollows: 22.04.300 Fires. 1. Lighting or maintaining £ires of any sort within any park of t~e City of Palo Alto is prohibited, except that, a fire may be lighted or maintained in those barbeques, fire rings, or other similar fixtures placed in the parks by the City specifically for such purpose. Portable barbeques and other fixtures for lighting or maintaining fires may not be brought into or used in any City park. 2. This section shall not apply to City sponsored events or to the exclusive group­ use of a City park permitted under S22.04.040. SECTION 2. The Council finds that the enactment of this ordinance will have no significant environmental impact. SECTION ·J. This ordinance shall becom~ effective upon the commencement of the. 31st day after· the day of its passage.
