ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PALO ALTO AMENDING CHAPTER 2. 30. OF THE
PALO ALTO MUNICIPAL CODE TO PROVIDE FOR
COOPERATIVE PURCHASES WITH OTiiER U'l'ILITIES
~HEREAS, the City and· Pac i fie Bell, as the local telept1one ·

Alto in connection with underground facilities used in supplying
utility .services to their respective customers; and

NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto does
ORDAIN as follows:
SECTION 1. Section 2.30.050 of the Palo Alto Municipal Code is
hereby amended to add thereto a subsection (d) to read as follows:
(d) Joint In•tallation of Underground Facilities
Syateaa. The City Manager or his designated
representative is authorized to participate with the
local telephone uti 1 i ty· in the joint purchase and
installation of underground facilities pursuant to a
master agreement for installation of underground
facility systems which has been approved by the City
Council, provided that the City's estimated share of
such system does not exceed the · sum of Twenty-Five
Thousand Dollars ($25,0()0.00).
SECTION 2. The adoption of this ordinance does no.t
constitute a project under the california Environmental Quality
Act and no environmental assessment is necess&ryo.

SECTION. 3. This ordinance shall become effective upon the '·'
co-enceaent of the 31st day a.fter the day of its passage.
