ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
REPEALING CHAPTER 2.11 OF THE PALO ALTO MUNICIPAL
CODE RELATING TO CABLE TELEVISION -LOBBYING ', ',,
WHEREAS, in 1981 the City Council b~an the process of decidi~,:,, ,,
who would be an ult !mate franchisee of its cable television sy~te1n · · ·
and
WHEREAS, shortly after beqinnin9 that process the Council enacted
Chapter 2.11 of the Palo Alto Municipal Code establishing registration
and reporting requirements for cable television lobbyists in order to
assure that decisions on cable television were made in a fair and open
manner; and
WHEREAS, a franchisee has been selected to construct and operate
the system and it is unlikely that intense lobbying will continue to
occur; and
WHEREAS, these regulations are no longer necessary to protect the
fairness of the selection process since a selection has been made;

as follows:
SECTION l. Chapter 2.11 of the Palo Alto Municipal Code is hereby
repealed.
SECTION 2. The Council finds that this ordinance ts not a project
under the California Enviroruaental Qua~ity Act and, therefore, no
environ.·ite,""tal impact assess•~nt is necessary.
SECTION 3. This ordinance Sltall bec011e effective upon commence-
ment of the thirty-first day aftec the date of its passage. ··~~
