ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF"'""TifE CITY OF PALO ALTO
AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 3637 TQ EXTEND THE MORATOR
IUM ON THE ISSUANCE OF DEMOLITION AND BUILDJNG
PERMITS FOR SUBSTANDARD LOTS IN R-1 DISTRICTS IN
THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
WHEREAS, on September lf, 1985, the City Council enacted
Ordinance No. 36.37, imposing a mor:.atoriuro on the issuance of
demolition and/or building permits on substandard lots in all R-1
Districts of the City of Palo ,a.lto, except trose in the College
Terrace area where Ordinance No. 3633 imposed a similar morator
ium, so that a study could t~ conducted of the appropriate zoning
and site development ~egulations for such substandard lots~ and
WHEREAS, the nK>rator ium imposed by Ordinance No. 3637 is due
to ex pi re on Decen,:...t:i-31 f 198 5; and
WHEREAS~ the study has been completed and the Planning
Commission has c0nducted public hearings and the City Council has
debated the appropriate land use regulations for controlling the
size of development on substandard lots in R-1 Districts, and both
the Planning Commission and the City Council are scheduled to
con duet another public hearing; and
WHEREAS, the schedule of public h~arings, held pursuant to
Title 18. of the Palo Alto Municipal Code, will extend beyond the
expiratjon date cf Ordinance No. 3637 so that new regulations will
not be· ef fee ti ve befors such expiration.
NOl'V, 'rHEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto does
ORDAIN as follows:
SECTION 1 •.. Section 5 of Ordinance No. 3637 is hereby amended
to read:

SECTION 2. The Council hei:·eby finds that none of the provi
sions of this ordinance will have a signiticant adverse effect on
the environment.
