HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 3644OROI NANCE NO. 3644 ORDINANCE OF '!'HE COUNCIL OF-THE CITY OF PALO ALTO AMENDING CHAP·rt:e< 22 .. 08 (PARK DEDICATIONS) OF THE PALO ALTO MUNICIPAL CODE ro DEDICATE ntE HOOVER, ORTEGA, AND DEMUA SCHOOL SITES AS ADDITIONS TO HOOVER, RAI40S, AND SEALE PARKS AND TO DEOICAT£ THE E:"ORMRR TERMAN MIDDLE SCHOOL SITE AS TER"tAN PARK WHEREAS, the City of Palo ,Alto has acquired the former sites of Hoover, Ortega and DeAnza Schools from the Palo Alto Unified School District; and WHEREAS, the City Council has en tt.>red in to .a lease/pure hase agreement W'ith the Palo Alto Unified School Diztrict for the purchase of the Terman site, such purchase to be completed on November 9, 2000; and WHEREAS, the City Council ,..•ishes to dedicate these ?roperties to park use so as to create more parx land and to enlarge existing and adjoining parks~ and WHEREAS, the City Charter grants authot-ity to t.he City to dedicate to park use land which the City ow~s or controls~ anct qHERf..~S, although three of the exist i.ng .parks were renamed by City Counc i 1 rot ion in 1968, thP. appropriate sect ions of the Palo Alto Municipal Code were not amended and the City Council wishes to update the park names so as avoid confusion. NOW, THEREFORE, the Counc11 of the City of Palo Alto &.>es ORDAIN as follows: SECTION 1. Section 22.08.150 (fioover Park) of the Palo Alto Municipal Code is hereby aaendoo to read: ·2~ .. 08.150 Herbert Hoo•er Put. · That cer­ tain parcel of land known a~ Herbert Hoover Park, as delineated and descL"ibed · fn Exhibits 1\-12 and A-12 .1 attached hereto,. is hereby reserved for park, playground, .recreation or conservation pur­ peses, • (Ord .. 2252 Sl2, 1965: Ord. 2643, 1972.) SECTION. 2. Section 22.Q1J.l55 is hereby added to· the Palo Alto Municipal Code to cead; •22.01.155 Ber~rt Boo•er P-ark Addition.· That certain parcel of land known as t:he for-mer Hoover School sj ~-~, a$ delineated and. descr.~bed in Exhibit A-12 .. 2 attached heceto, is hereby reserved for park, playground, recreation or conservation purposes.• ' ' ). __ -: .. That certain parcel of land known as Don Jesus Ra.as Park. as delineated and describ­ ed in Exhibit A-14 attached hereto, is hereby re­ served for park.. playground, recreation or conser- vation purposes~• SECTION 4. Section 22.08.175 is hereby added to the Palo Alto Municipal Code to read: •22.08$175 Don Jesus Ra.os Park (forserly Meadow Pack) Addition.
