ORDINANCE OF TH~ ~OUNCIL OF THE CITY . OF PALO ALTO
EXTENDING THE EXISTINGMORATORIUM ON THE PROCESSING
OF APPLICATIONS FOR: NEW OFFICE USES OF 5,000 SQUARE
FEET OR MORE IN THE GM ZONE
WHEREAS, by Ordinance No. 3547 this Council enacted a moratorium
on the processing of all applications for planning approval or building
~ermits for new o~ converted medical, professional, general business or
administrative office uses of 5,000 square feet or more in cert-ain
areas zoned Service Commercial (CS) and General M0.nufacturing (GM) ~
and
WHEREAS, the morator;.um is to expire on July 9, 1985: and
WHEREAS, although the City has adopted fiew regulations to apply to
the CS zone, the City staff is conducting a study of current zoning
regulations on the future development of t.he GM areas involved and the
r.esults of those studi"9s should be before the Planning Commission in
October, 1985; and
WHEREAS, although the moratorium has been extended once by Ordi
nance No. 3587, tiu~ council does not w·i.sh to termin.c1te the mo;::atorium
in the GM districts without evaluating the resuH:s of the land use
study;
NOW, THEREt'ORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto does ORDAIN
as follows:
SECTION 1. 'l'he July 9, 1985. termination. date of ·the JDoratori~
establfshed by Ordinance .3587 for .cer.tcdn GM districts in .th-a City, as
shown on the map attached he1:eto as Exhibit A, is hereby extendeq to
January 9, 1986, unless sooner term:irH.=tted by the Council.
'·' SECTION 2. The Council finds that this project will. have no
signi"ficant adverse enviro~mental .impact.
·SECTION 1. This ordinance shall become effective upon the com-
