interest ot the City to extend the ef tective date of Ordinance 3502 to
and i,clu~ing ~eptembe~ 18, 1985 in o~der to coincide with the
expir-~tior. of the do..,nto~n no::-atorium; and
WttEREAS, tht! City Cconcii he::--eby declares that this ot·d.inance is
necessary to pre~er~~ the public health and saf0ty in that Ordinance
3502 is due to expi::-e hy its U:~!:ms on february 16, 1985 and the Council
desi~es to ensure continuity and ocdecly development of propt:rty in the
downtown area;
NOW, THEREPok~, tht:?-Council of the City of Palo Alto \joeg onjain
as ~vllows:
S~~C1''t:ON 1. Sect ion 7 ot Ord ina:'lce 3502 is hereby amended to read
a5 follows:
•sECTION 1. Unless t~e Council adopts an ordinance
to extend, ~modify or amend the provisions of this
ordinance, the additions, ampndments and deletions
rf the Palo Alto Municipal Code contained in
sections 1, 2, J, and 4 of Ordinance 3502 shall be
repealed without further action of the council after
midnight, September l~, 1985.•
SECTION 2. The Council intends this to be ~n extension of the
provisions OtOrdinance 3502 in accord'ince with its terms.
SECTION l. Thd Council hereby finds that none of the provLs1ons
of this or<finance will have a significant emtironmental impact.
St:~CTION 4'. The Council declares this to be an emet'.'yency tirdtnance
which shall be effective on the date of its adoption. The facts giving
rise to the emeryency a=e that the current provisions of Ordinarice 3502
are due to ~xpire on February 16, 1985. Unless the Council acts to
extt:l'nd the interim parking requ i t"ernt:rn ts, the orderly development of
property within the City and the processing of development applications
will be ·jeverely disrupted and will threaten the public peace, health
and s.:.::·ety.
