HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 35971 • • ORDINANCE NO. 3597 ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO AMENDING CHAPl'E!R 16.4 7 REGARDING APPROVAL OF PROJBCTS WITH IMPACTS ON HOUSING WHEREAS, on July 23, 1984. the City Council adopted the Housing ~itigation Ordinance (Ordinance No. 3560) which requires developers of commercial and i:1dustrial space to provide housing units or in-lieu payments; a:1d WHEREAS, at the time of adoption. of this ordinance, the Council asked sta f. f to return with a:1 amendment providing an exempt ior'l for beneficial uses ~ithin co~~ercial and indust~ial space; NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of P~lo Alto does ORDAIN as follo\\ls: SECTION 1. Section Municipal Code to raad: 16.47.020(e) is hereby added to the Palo ~lto " .. , (e) neu gro~s square footage in a development used for {1) an on-site caf~teria, recreational faeility. and/or day care facility, to be provided for e~ployoees and/or their children and not open to the generc:.l public, ot· (2) a hazardous materials storage facility shall be exempted from the re­ quirements of this chapter. If any square footage exempted under th5s subsection (e) is converted to a non-exempt use~ . t::ne entire amount of gross sq):are footage converted must meet the requirements of this chapter, regardless of the number of square feet converted. SECTION ~. The Council hereby finds that none of the provisions of this ordinance will have ~ significant effect on the environment. SECTION 3. This ocdin~nce shal], become ,..,;:,;:e;;:ctive upon the ~.·om­ mencement of the thirty-fir.st day after the day of its passage.
