HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 3595Jl l I ORDINANCE NO. 35 9 5 ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO AMENDING CHAPTER 16.20 (SIGN ORDINANCE) TO READOPT PENALTY AND ENFORCEMEN'r PROVISIONS WHEREAS, Chapter 16.20 (Signs) of the Palo Alto ~unicipal Code was updated and revised in August, 1984~ and WHEREAS, provisions regarding penall:.ies and enforcement were in­ advertently not readopted~ and WHEREAS, C.he City wishes to have clear authority to issue ci ta­ t ions for violations uf the sign ordinance. NOW, THEREFORE, the Cour.-c i 1 of the C i t:y of Palo Alto does ORDAIN as follows: SECTION 1. Section 16.20.260 is her:eby added to the Pa.1.o Alto Municipal Code to read: 16.20.260 Violations--Penalties~ Violation 0f any provision of this ~hapter is an infraction, punisha.ble as pro·Jided in this code. Each day of violation constitutes a separate offense and may be Sf)drately punished. SECTION 2. Section 16.20.270 is hereby added to th~.;t Palo Alto Municipal Code to rean; 16.~0.270 Bnforceaent--Citation authority. P-ersons ~mployed in the following .designated em­ ~loyee positions are authorized to exercise the authority ptovided in Penal Code Sections 836.5 and l9d and are authorized l:o i~sue citations for vio­ lations of this chapter: ct"!i.ef building· official,. assistant building official and ordinance compli- anc.e inspector. SECTION 3., ;rhe Council hereby finds that. none .of the provisions rot. J:.his ordinance will have a signifiGant environmental impact .. SECTION 4.
