ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL . OF ·raE. CI'rY OF PALO ALTO
EXTENDING THE EXISTING MORATORIU~ ON THE PROCESSING
OF APPLICATIONS FOR NEW OFFICE USES OF 5,000 SQUARE
FEET OR MORE IN THE GM ZONE
Whl.!:RE:As, this Council e ·.acted a moratorium on the processiny of
all applications for pla:1ning approvals or buildin•J permits for new or
converted med:cal, professionalf general business or administrative
office uses of 5, 000 sq1.1are feet or more in certain areas z:oned Service
Couunercial (CS) and General Manufacturing (GM)~ and
WHER~AS, the moratorium is to expire on January 9, 1985~ and
WHEREAS, although the City has adopted new r.;gulations to apply t<;
the CS zone, the C.i ty staff is corducting a st~dy of current zoning
regulations on the future development of the GM areas involved and the
results of those studies should be before the Planning Commission in
February, 1985; aPd
WHEREAS, the Council does not 'dsh to tet'rninate the moc.atorium in
the GM diatribta without evaluating the results of that ~tudyi
NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of t,he City of Palo Alto does OROiUH
as follows: ·
SECTION 1. 'rhe Janl,lary 9 f 1985 ·Lerminat ion date· of ',the 11orato~iua
established by Ordinance 354 7 f. or certain GM di$tricts in the City , is
hereby extended to July 9, 1985,, unless'· souner ter:minated by the
Council,
SECTION 2. The Council finds that this project will have no
significant environmental impact.
, SECTION 3. This ordinance shall , become effective upon the, COftl-
mencement of the thirty-first day after th~ :day ,.,f its passage.
