AUTHORIZING AN AMENDMENT TO THE CONTRACT BETW~EN THE
CITY OF PALO AL'rO AND THE BOARD Or ADMINISTRATION OF
THE CALifORNIA PUBLIC EMF .LOYEES 1 fi.£Tl REME:NT SYSTEM
The Council of the City of Palo Alto does ORD~IN as follows:
SECTION 1. An amendment to the contract between the City Council
of t!w-Cityof Palo Alto and the Board of Administration, Califor.nia
Public Employees' I<etb:ement System is hereby authorized. A copy of
said amendment is attached het e to as Exhibit nAn and i ncor por a ted
herein by reference as though fully set fotth.
SEC'l'ION 2. 1'he Mayor of. the C i. ty of Palo 1\1 to .i.s hereby autho-
rized-,--empower:ed, and directed to execute said amendment. for-and un
behalf of City.
SECTION 3. The Counci.l finds that this is not a project under the
Cal.lfor:nia· Env.ll.'.onmental Quality Act and,. tl1<2ref.ore, no <?nvironmentaJ.
impact assesfment is necessary.
SECTION 4. This ordinance shall become effective upl)n lhe com-
mencementofthe thirty-fir:st day after the day of its adoption .

ees' Retirement Law shall have the meaniug as defined therein unless

In addition to the cl~sses of employees excluded from ~embership ty
said Retirement La~, the follo~ing classes of employe~s shall no~
becom~ members of said Retirement Sy~tem:

d. Section 21222.6 (Spdcial 15% increase for local miscellaneous
meillb.:!rs as defined p1usu.an t to Gover'tllll.ent Code Section. 21222.6).
e. Section 21222.85 (Special 3%-15i increase to pr&-1-1-74 retirees).
f. Section 20024.2 (One-year final compensation).
g. Section 21222.4 (Special 15% increas€ for locat safety me~bers).
Public Agencyp in accordance vith Section 20740, Gover~ent Code, ceas

ees' Retirement Law ef~ective on Septe~ber 11, 1977. Accum~lated con
tributions of Public Agency as of the aforementioned date shall be
fixed and determined ns -pY'ovided in Sect·lon 20't59, Goverruaent. Code, and
accumulated contributionu as of the aforementioned date and contribu
tions thereafter msde shall be held by the Board ae provided in S£ction
20759, Government Code.

the followiog percentages of monthly salaries earned as local
