ADDING CHAPTER 10 ~ 4 6 TO THE PALO ALTO MUNICIPAL
CODE ESTABLISHING A RESIDENTIAL PERMIT PARKING AREA
IN CERTAIN PORTIONS OF THE SOUTHGATE AND EVERGREEN

11 'l0.46.010 Oe.f.initions.
(a) •Motor vehicle" shall include an automo
bile, trailer, tr.t1ckf house car, motorcycle or
other motor-driven transportation.

(c) Proof of residencv .shall be demonstrated
in a manner.determined by the Supervisor of Revenue
Collections.
(d) Proof of moto-r ..,,ehlcle ownership or
vehicle use and control shall be demonstrated in a
manner determined by the Supervisor of Revenue
Collections.
•10.46.030 Application for and duration of
per•i t. Each parking permit issued by the Super
vi.sor of Revenue Collections shall be valid for one
hundred five d4ys from the effective date of this
ordinance for residents and a shorter ~1me fot
authorized quests in the manner required by the
Supervisor of Revenue Coll~ctions.

by the city council designating the streets in the·
residential perrni t parking area, the City Manager
shall cause appropriate signs to be erected in the
area indicating prominently thereon the ~!me li~it
ation, day or days and hours under which parking
shall be restrict.ed to permit holders.

provision. {a) It shall be unlawful and a vio
lation of this chapter, unless expressly provided
to the contrary hel:-e in, for any person to st..3n<.1 or
park a motor vehicle on a street in the residential
per.mi t parking area. Monday through Friday bet.·.~·een
4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.
(b) Violations of this chapter shall be con
sidered an infractio11.

vehicle shall not be exempt from parking restric
tions or prohibitions established pursuant lo

the holder thereof an on-street parking space on e
street in the residential permit parki~q area.
(b) Ambulances, Fire Department vehicles,
Police vehicles, or public utilities vehicles which
have an official seal or logo identifying them as
such shall be exempt from the time restrictions
established in Section 10.46.070.
(c) Commercial vehicles specified .in Cali
for:nia. Vehicle Code Section 22507.6 shall be ~xempl
from the time restrictions established ). n Section
10.46~070.
SEC'l1ION 2. The Council finds that this project will have no
B igni~t environmental .impact.
SECTION 3. ~verat:_.L';_l_!;X· If any sec 1: ion, subsection r sent~nce,
c 1 avse or phrase of this chapter is for r-1ny reason held to be invalid
or unconstitutional, such decision shall not affect the validity of the
remaining portion...: of th].s chapter. The Council hereby de:clares that
it would have passed this chapter, and each section, subsection, sen
tence, clause and phrase thereof, irrespective of the fact that any one
or more sect ions, subsections, sentences, clauses or ph rast~s had been
declared invalid or unconstitutional.

SECTION 4. This ordinance shall become effective on March lS,
1983,-and shall expire 105 Clays from the E-ffective date hereot.
