ORDINANCE O!i' THE COUNCIL OFl,HE CITY OF PALO ALTO
AUTHORIZING AN AMENDMENT TO THE CO~TRACT BETWEEN THE
CITY OF PALO ALTO AND THE BOARD OF ADMINISTRATION OF
THE CALI FORNI h PUBLIC EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT G YSTEM
The Council of the City of Palo Alto does ORDAIN as follows:
SECTION 1. An amendment to the contract between the City Council
of the C1ty o-f Palo ;~lto and the Boa·cd of Administration, Californi<)
Public Employees' Retirement System is hereby authorized. A copy of
said amendment is attached hereto as Rxhibit ,.A,. and incorporated
herein by reference as though fully set forth,
SECTION 2. The Mayor of the Council of the City of Palo Alto is
her·eby aut.hor1zed, empowerec1, and directed to execute said amendment
for and on behalf of City.
SECTIC2~_:}_. The Cvuncil of the City of P<:.do Alto finds that this
is not a project under. the Californi0 r:nvironmental Quality Act and,
therefore, no environmental impact assef,smr.nt is n~:cessary.

B. Public Agency shall con!_ri~ut~e .to said Retirement System as follows:
a. Vith respect to miscellaneous members, t~e agency shall con
tribute the following percentages of t~~onthly salaries earned s.a
miscellaneous members ~f eaid Retirement System:
( '() 0.219 percent until June '30, 2000 on account of the ·
liability for prior service benefits.

b. • • With respect to local safety members, the agency shall contribute
the following percentages of monthly salaries earned as local
sat'etr aeabere of aBid Retirement Syetem:
(1) 0.027 percent until June 30, 2000 on account of the
liability for prior Dervice benefits.
(2) 28.596 percent on account or the liability for current
service benefits.
c. A reasonable amount per annUI!I., as fixed by the Eo!:!. rd. to cover the
costs of edministering Daid System as it affects the employees of
Public Agency, not including the costE~ of special valuations or
of the perioo.ic investigation and valuations requirs·d by law.
d. A reasonable amount as fixed by the BoArd, payable in one ins tall
ment as the occasions arise, to cover thb costs of spe~ial valua
tions on account of employees of Public Agency, and costs of the
periodic invest.iga'tion and valua.tions requir'ed by law.

adjustment shall be made in connection with subsequent remittances, or
