HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 3335• • ORIGINAL ORDINANCE NO. ~) 3 5 ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO AMENDING SECTION 2.04.395 OF THE PALO ALTO MUNICIPAL CODE TO ESTABLISH COUNCILMEMBER SA[,ARIES AT $400 PER MONTH FOR ALL COUNCILMEMBERS WHEREAS, on August 25, 1980, the City Council passed Ordinance No. 3221 which added Se~tion 2.04.395 to the Palo Alto Municipal Code to provide that salaries for Councilmembers be set at Four Hundred Dollars ($400) pet month upon the commencement of the next succeedi~g term of office for each Councilmember position: and WHEREAS, on January 1, 1982, five Councilrnembers commenced a new term of office and now receive Four Hundred Dollars ($400) per monthr while the other Councilmembers receive 'I'wo Hundred Fifty Dollars ($250) per month: and WHEREAS, the City Council desires to elimir.at~ this inequality in Councilrnember salaries, and to provide that all Councilmembers receive the same salary; NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto does ORDAIN as follows: SECTION 1. Section 2.04.395 of the Palo Alto Municipal Code is amended to reaa as follows: •2.04"395 Salaxy of councilroembers. The .salary of a councilmember shall be four hu11dred dollars per month." SECTJ:ON 2o The Council finds that this is not a p;:oject under the Cal1forn1i Environmental Quality Act and, therefore, no enviro~­ mental impact assessment is ~ecessary. SECTION 3. This ordinance shall become effective upon the com­ mencement of the thirty-first day after the day of its passage.
