HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 3334• • OR~G!t~AL ORDINANCE NO. 3334 ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO AMENDING SECTIONS 9.48.010 AND 16.20.110 OF THE PALO ALTO MUNICIPAL CODE TO TRANSFER AUTHORITY FOR ISSUANCE OF BANNER PERMITS FROM THE CHIEF OF POtiCE TO THB CHIEF BUILDING OFFICIAL The Council of the City of Palo Alto does ORDAIN as follows: SECTION 1. Section 9.48.010 of the Palo Alto Municipal Code here­ by is amended to read as follows: •9.40.010 Displaying goods on sidewalk. No person owning or occupying any premises fronting on a publ~c street shall place any goods, wares or merchandise, for the purpose of exhibition, display or advertisement, on any portion of the sidewalk in front of said premises, without having obtained a permit from the chief of police as requir~d in sec­ tion 10.10.010(d). No flag, canvas, Lanner, nor any advertising device of any description whatever shall be str8tched across any street or sidewalk without the parmission of the chief building offi­ cial given in writinq." SECTION 2. Section 16.20.110(a) of the Palo Al~o Municipal Code hereby is amended to read as follows: ~(a) Public Places. Except as provided here­ in, no sign shall be erected upon or over any pub- 1 i c st: l>?et, sidewalk, parking lot or other public way or place without a permit in writing from the chief building official, and except on a purely temporary basis. Such permit shall be in addition to any permit required by Section 16.20.020." SECTION J. The Council finds that this project will have no sig­ nificant env 1 ronmental impact. SEC'riON 4. This ordinance shall become effective upon the com­ mencement of tbe thirty-first day after the day of its adoption.
