Special Meeting February 10, 2001 The City Council of the City of Palo Alto met on this date in the Council Chambers at 11:00 a.m. PRESENT: Beecham, Burch, Eakins, Fazzino, Kleinberg, Lytle, Mossar, Ojakian SPECIAL MEETING 1. Interview of Candidates for City Council Member Vacancy MOTION: Council Member Fazzino moved, seconded by Ojakian, to interview five candidates beginning at 6:00 p.m. ending at 7:15 p.m. on Monday, February 12, 2001. SUBSTITUTE MOTION: Council Member Burch moved, seconded by Mossar, that the Council select the top five and interview the top three candidates. SUBSTITUTE MOTION FAILED 4-4, Fazzino, Kleinberg, Lytle, Ojakian “yes.” SUBSTITUTE MOTION: Council Member Beecham moved, seconded by Mossar, to have each Council Member select five candidates and interview the top four candidates. AMENDMENT TO SUBSTITUTE MOTION: Council Member Beecham moved, seconded by Mossar, to begin the interviews at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, February 12, 2001, and to interview five candidates. AMENDMENT TO SUBSTITUTE MOTION PASSED 8-0. SUBSTITUTE MOTION AS AMENDED PASSED 8-0. City Clerk Rogers announced that the top five candidates were Chris Kelly with eight votes, Andrew Pierce with seven votes, Leannah Hunt with five votes, Lanie Wheeler with five votes, and Wing See Leung with four votes. ADJOURNMENT: The meeting adjourned at 5:15 p.m.
