HomeMy WebLinkAbout2018-09-15 Public Art Commission Summary Minutes IS POSTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH GOVERNMENT CODE SECTION 54954.2(a) OR SECTION 54956 PUBLIC ART COMMISSION Friday, September 15, 2018 Environmental Volunteers Eco Center 9:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m. ANNUAL PAC RETREAT MINUTES Commissioners Present: Jim Migdal, Loren Gordon, Ben Miyaji, Hsinya Shen, Ian Klaus, Nia Taylor, Amanda Ross (joined at 11:02 a.m.) Staff present: Elise DeMarzo, Public Art Program Director Monique le Conge Ziesenhenne, CSD Director Nadya Chuprina, Public Art Program Coordinator Brittany Amante, Art Program Assistant CALL TO ORDER – The meeting was called to order at 9:20AM by Chair Migdal. ADDITIONS, CHANGES, REQUESTS, DELETIONS – None. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS – None. NON-ACTION: Staff provided a summary of existing and upcoming public art projects, including temporary public art program, ongoing projects in municipal and private development. Staff then provided a status update for a list of artwork undergone conservation and maintenance treatments, overview and timeline for current grant applications. Staff provided an overview of PAP funding courses and updated the commissioners on CIP, Public Art Fund, and General Fund budgets. The Commissioners reviewed the PAMP Implementation Grid to discuss current status of priorities and recommendations as outlined in the PAMP, and identified the following priorities as part of the PAC two-year working plan: 1. Testing a Mobile App for the public art collection. 2. Focusing on the current grant applications for Code:ART 2 and Cubberley ArtScope and executing the proposed project(s). 3. Creating a Master Plan for a pedestrian corridor in Palo Alto (California Avenue). 4. Follow up on outstanding policy updates. No action was taken. Meeting adjourned 12:58 PM by Chair Migdal.
