HUMAN RELATIONS COMMISSION ACTION MINUTES Thursday, June 9, 2022 6:00 PM Commissioners Present: Eberle, Kraus, Smith Staff: Minka van der Zwaag, Vinhloc Nguyen I. ROLL CALL II. AGENDA CHANGES, REQUESTS, DELETIONS III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES May 24, 2022 MOTION: Commissioner Kraus moved, seconded by Vice Chair Eberle to approve the minutes of May 24, 2022. MOTION PASSED: 3-0 IV. BUSINESS 1) Adoption of a Resolution Authorizing Use of Teleconferencing for Human Relations Commission Meeting During Covid-19 State of Emergency. MOTION: Chair Smith moved, seconded by Commissioner Kraus to Adopt a Resolution authoring the use of teleconferencing under Government Code Section 54953 (e) for the meeting of the Human Relations Commission and its subcommittees due to the Covid-19 declared state of emergency. MOTION PASSED: 3-0 2) Report back on Council review of HRC workplan. HRC Vice Chair Eberle reported back on her presentation to the Council on June 1, 2022 on the HRC workplan. NO ACTION TAKEN ADA. Members of the public are welcome to attend this public meeting. 3) Referral from the City Council on Recognizing Key Dates to Advance Race & Equity. The commission had an initial discussion on the Council referral that involved asking of questions to staff and sharing of initial thoughts on the different aspects of the referral. The item will be discussed again, with possible actions taken, at the August 11, 2022 meeting. NO ACTION TAKEN 4) Discussion on start time of future HRC meeting. The commission revisited the start time of the commission meeting, while historically it started at 7pm, it moved to 6pm during the Covid-19 state of emergency. After a time of discussion, the following motion was made. MOTION: Chair Smith moved, seconded by Vice Chair Eberle that the start time for the HRC should be 6pm on an ongoing basis for their monthly meeting. MOTION PASSED 3-0 V. ADJOURNMENT The meeting adjourned at 6.55pm
