This meeting of the City/School Liaison Committee was held in person at the City of Palo Alto and on Zoom and was
accessible to the public in person, by internet, or telephone.
Call to Order
Members of the City/School Liaison Committee met virtually. Lythcott-Haims, Chair, called the meeting to order at
8:33 a.m.
Members:
Board Member Todd Collins, Palo Alto Unified School District, Chair
Board Member Shounak Dharap, Palo Alto Unified School District
Superintendent of Schools Don Austin, Palo Alto Unified School District (absent)
Carolyn Chow, Chief Business Officer, Palo Alto Unified School District
Council Member Pat Burt, City of Palo Alto
Council Member Julie Lythcott-Haims, City of Palo Alto
City Manager Ed Shikada, City of Palo Alto
Deputy City Manager Chantal Gaines, City of Palo Alto
General Public Comments
Ken Horowitz spoke about the City School Liaison Committee.
Selection of the New Committee Chair
The committee called for nominations for Committee Chair.
MOTION 1: It was moved by Dharap, seconded by Burt, to nominate Collins for Committee Chair. The motion
carried 4-0 by the following roll call votes:
Collins: Aye
Dharap: Aye
Burt: Aye
Lythcott-Haims: Aye
Approval of Minutes
Approval of minutes from the December 14, 2023, meeting.
MOTION 2: It was moved by Burt, seconded by Dharap, to approve the minutes as presented. The motion
carried 4-0 by the following roll call votes:
Collins: Aye
Dharap: Aye
Burt: Aye
Lythcott-Haims: Aye
Updates from the City of Palo Alto
Shikada, Burt, and Lythcott-Haims provided an update from the City of Palo Alto.
Chow joined the meeting.
Public Comment:
Rika Yamamoto spoke on Updates from the City of Palo Alto.
Updates from Palo Alto Unified School District
Chow, Dharap, and Collins provided an update from PAUSD.
Future Business
Public Comment:
Ken Horowitz spoke about Cubberley.
The committee discussed future business.
Adjournment
The meeting was adjourned at 9:28 a.m.
