Present: City of Palo Alto Representatives Pat Burt, Council Member, City of Palo Alto Julie Lythcott-Haims, Council Member, City of Palo Alto Chantal Cotton Gaines, Deputy City Manager, City of Palo Alto Palo Alto Unified School District Representatives Todd Collins, Board Member, Palo Alto Unified School District Shounak Dharap, Board Member, Palo Alto Unified School District Don Austin, Superintendent, Palo Alto Unified School District Selection of Committee Chair Council Member Burt explained that each year the Chair position alternates between City Council Members and District Board Members. For 2023, the Chair position is held by the City. MOTION: Council Member Burt moved, seconded by Board Member Dharap to nominate Council Member Lythcott-Haims as Chair for the City School Liaison Committee for 2023. MOTION PASSED: 4-0 Virtual Meeting Practices and Connection Information City Manager Shikada reported that City School Liaison Committee meetings will transition to in person for committee members. Oral Communications Ken Horowitz spoke about Cubberley. Minutes Approval Approval of minutes from the November 17, 2022 and December 15, 2022 meetings. MOTION: Board Member Collins moved, seconded by Council Member Burt to approve minutes from the November 17, 2022 and December 15, 2022 meetings. City School Liaison Committee Meeting Action Minutes: 2/16/2023 Superintendent Austin provided a report to this item. Report of City Manager City Manager Shikada and Deputy City Manager Cotton Gaines provided a report to this item. Report of City Council Meeting Council Member Burt and Chair Lythcott-Haims provided a report to this item. Report of PAUSD Meeting Board Member Dharap provided a report to this item. Future Business The committee discussed the role of the City School Liaison Committee and future agenda items. Adjournment The meeting was adjourned at 10:00 a.m.
