Council Appointed Officers Committee Meeting May 2, 2019 Schedule of Meetings Schedule of Meetings Tentative Agenda Tentative Agenda Public Letters to Council Set 1 CITY OF PALO ALTO OFFICE OF THE CITY CLERK April 29, 2019 The Honorable City Council Palo Alto, California Interviews of Candidates for the Human Relations Commission, the Library Advisory Commission, the Storm Water Management Oversight Committee, and the Utilities Advisory Commission On Monday, April 15, 2019, City Council selected the following applicants to interview for the Human Relations Commission (HRC), the Library Advisory Commission (LAC), the Storm Water Management Oversight Committee (SMWOC), and the Utilities Advisory Commission (UAC). Due to only one applicant for the Architectural Review Board the Council unanimously voted to reopen the recruitment. These interviews will be held at a later date. The City Council will be scheduled to vote to appoint candidates on Monday, May 20, 2019. Background Human Relations Commission 2.22.010 There is created a human relations commission composed of seven members who are not council members, officers or employees of the city, who are residents of the city, and who shall be appointed by the city council. (Ord. 2924 § 1, 1976: Ord. 2537 (part), 1969: Ord. 2485 § 1 (part), 1969) Library Advisory Commission 2.24.010 There is created a library advisory commission composed of five members who shall be appointed by and shall serve at the pleasure of the city council, but who shall not be councilmembers, officers or employees of the city of Palo Alto. Each member of the commission shall have a demonstrated interest in public library matters. All members of the commission shall at all times be residents of Palo Alto. All members of the commission shall take an oath of office before commencing their service on the commission. (Ord. 5190 § 1, 2013: Ord. 4529 § 2 (part), 1998) Storm Water Management Oversight Committee Resolution 9677 Committee Membership and Appointment. The Committee shall consist of seven members who are selected and appointed by the City Council for a term of four years. Committee members shall serve without compensation. Each Committee member shall be a resident of Palo Alto, an employee of a business located in Palo Alto or an owner of real property within the City. No member shall be a council member, officer or employee of the City. Utilities Advisory Commission 2.23.010 There is created a utilities advisory commission composed of seven members who shall be appointed by and serve at the pleasure of the city council, but who shall not be council members, officers or employees of the city. Each member of the commission shall be a utility customer or the authorized representative of a utility customer. Six members of the commission shall at all times be residents of the city.
