HONORING JOY OCHE
Parks and Recreation Commission
WHEREAS, Joy Oche was appointed in May 2022 to the Parks and Recreation Commission,
generously devoting her time to ensure Palo Alto parks, open space, and recreation programs are
accessible to all Palo Alto residents; and WHEREAS, Joy Oche served on several Ad Hoc committees, volunteering additional time to advance specific projects and initiatives for the benefit of the community; and
WHEREAS, Joy Oche served as the Commission’s liaison to the Palo Alto Youth Council, encouraging youth participation in civic activities; and WHEREAS, Joy Oche represented the Parks and Recreation Commission at community special
events, including volunteering as a judge during the annual 4th of July Chili Cook-off; and
WHEREAS, Joy Oche played a pivotal role in evaluating the feasibility of a future Recreation Wellness Center in Palo Alto.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Ed Lauing, Mayor of the City of Palo Alto, on behalf of the entire
City Council, do hereby proclaim appreciation for outstanding public service to Joy Oche for her service and contributions rendered as a Parks and Recreation Commissioner. PRESENTED: August 28, 2025
