WHEREAS, the 2025 Tall Tree Awards will be held in Palo Alto on Thursday, April 17, 2025. The Tall Tree
Awards are proudly hosted each year by the Palo Alto Chamber of Commerce and Palo Alto Weekly to recognize,
celebrate, and honor individuals and organizations that have made exceptional contributions and provided
invaluable service to the community; and
WHEREAS, Rich Green is the 2025 honoree for Outstanding Citizen Volunteer. As a local business owner
since 1991 with degrees in physical anthropology and historical geology from Northwestern University, Rich
Green fell in love with history as a young boy; and
WHEREAS, Rich Green is a professional electronic system integrator, serves as adjunct faculty at Moraine
Park Technical College, is a frequent speaker on future technologies, and is an officer of the Palo Alto Historical
Association; and
WHEREAS, Rich Green has served as the President of the Palo Alto History Museum for multiple years,
advocating for the creation and construction of a museum that would showcase the history of innovation,
technology and entrepreneurship in Palo Alto; and
WHEREAS, the Palo Alto History Museum is expected to open in early 2026 and will be housed in the
historic Roth Building located at 300 Homer Avenue; and
WHEREAS, Rich Green has guided the museum in its efforts to obtain funding, secure government grants
and bolster community support for the project.
NOW, THEREFORE I, Ed Lauing, Mayor of the City of Palo Alto on behalf on the entire City Council do
hereby recognize Rich Green for his volunteer efforts and dedicated service as President of the Palo Alto History
Museum whose mission is to preserve, archive, and share the rich and vibrant history of Palo Alto for all.
