OUTSTANDING BUSINESS
WHEREAS, the 2025 Tall Tree Awards will be held in Palo Alto on Thursday, April 17, 2025. The Tall Tree
Awards are proudly hosted each year by the Palo Alto Chamber of Commerce and Palo Alto Weekly to recognize,
celebrate, and honor individuals and organizations that have made exceptional contributions and provided
invaluable service to the community; and
WHEREAS, Alta Mesa Cemetery and Funeral Home is the 2025 honoree for Outstanding Business. Sitting
on seventy-two majestic acres, Alta Mesa is a non-denominational cemetery that has been independently owned
and operated since 1904; and
WHEREAS, Alta Mesa has served Palo Alto families for over a century. It has built lasting relationships
with Palo Alto and neighboring communities because of its personal attention, compassion, and understanding
during one of life’s greatest challenges, the loss of a loved one; and
WHEREAS, Alta Mesa supports numerous local nonprofits with generous donations like the Ronald
McDonald House, Lucile Packard Children’s Foundation, Palo Alto Community Fund, Palo Alto Rotary,
Peninsula Humane Society, and the Community Service Agency.
NOW, THEREFORE I, Ed Lauing, Mayor of the City of Palo Alto on behalf of the entire City Council, do
hereby recognize Alta Mesa Cemetery and Funeral Home for their dedicated services to our community and their
unwavering support in helping families and friends honor their loved ones.
