WHEREAS, the 2025 Tall Tree Awards will be held in Palo Alto on Thursday, April 17, 2025. The Tall Tree
Awards are proudly hosted each year by the Palo Alto Chamber of Commerce and Palo Alto Weekly to recognize,
celebrate, and honor individuals and organizations that have made exceptional contributions and provided
invaluable service to the community; and
WHEREAS, AchieveKids is the 2025 honoree for Outstanding Nonprofit. AchieveKids, provides
educational services to complex learners in the community, such as students with autism, development disabilities
and behavioral disorders, while also providing support services to their families. AchieveKids uses a multi-
disciplinary approach that blends best practices from Special Education, Mental Health, Behavior Analysis,
Speech and Language, and Vocational Education to develop highly individualized curricula to incorporate into
each student’s daily lesson plan; and
WHEREAS, the primary mission of AchieveKids is to create a greater opportunity in the lives of students
in special education through exceptional schools and collaborative educational services that enable students with
special needs to thrive; and
WHEREAS, programming at AchieveKids is data-driven and tailored to each student, focused on positive
practices, communication, community integration and interaction. This multi-faceted approach aims to teach their
students the skills necessary to return to their public school or a less restrictive environment; and
WHEREAS, families incur no out-of-pocket costs for the services provided by AchieveKids.
NOW, THEREFORE I, Ed Lauing, Mayor of the City of Palo Alto on behalf of the entire City Council do
hereby recognize AchieveKids for providing exceptional educational services to complex learners in our
community, as well as offering invaluable family support services to their loved ones.
