KIWANIS CLUB OF PALO ALTO 100TH ANNIVERSARY
WHEREAS, the Kiwanis Club of Palo Alto was chartered on February 13, 1925, and will celebrate 100 years of service on February 13, 2025. The organization began its service to the community by supporting children and families through grants and scholarships. They supported a Boy Scout Troop and later a Girl Scout Troop; and
WHEREAS, the Kiwanis Club of Palo Alto has had a profound and long-standing impact on local children and youth through its hands-on community service and philanthropy to local nonprofit organizations. The
organization has also helped children and youth internationally through its support of American Field Service exchange programs and Kiwanis International’s global projects, which aim to end iodine deficiency and eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus, and other international programs created by members; and WHEREAS, in 2023-2024, the Kiwanis Club of Palo Alto continued with their significant contributions to the community. The organization provided eight scholarships and gave over $120,000 in grants, often spearheading projects for 35 local nonprofit organizations; and WHEREAS, the Kiwanis Club of Palo Alto has participated in many City of Palo Alto projects, including the Duck Pond, numerous City parks, the May Fete Fair, the July 4 Chili Cookoff, and various playgrounds; and
WHEREAS, the Kiwanis Club of Palo Alto is holding a 100th Year Anniversary celebration on February 15, 2025, to honor its outstanding achievements and contributions made to the community, and look forward to those to come.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Ed Lauing, Mayor of the City of Palo Alto, do hereby recognize and honor the Kiwanis Club for their celebrating 100th anniversary, along with their continued gracious service to our
