PROCLAMATION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
EXPRESSING APPRECIATION TO CLARE CAMPBELL UPON HER RETIREMENT
WHEREAS, Clare Campbell began her career with the City of Palo Alto on November 19, 2001 and has provided
exemplary service throughout her 22-year and 4 month tenure; and
WHEREAS, Clare Campbell has enthusiastically served the citizens of Palo Alto for more than two decades working
in the Planning and Development Services Department in the Current Planning, Development Services, and most
recently working in Long Range Planning; and
WHEREAS, Clare managed multiple important long range planning projects including the Housing Element, North Ventura Coordinated Area Plan, Renter Protection Policies, and the Downtown Housing Plan, and was integral in the implementation of the City’s online permitting system at the start of the COVID-19 shelter in place directive when she was the Development Services Permit Manager; and
WHEREAS, Clare managed many current planning projects and city projects during her time in planning; for a time,
she was Planning’s liaison and primary point of contact for public projects, notably the Mitchell Park Library and
Community Center, the Rinconada Library/Art Center renovation and improvements, and the Sea Scout Building
historic rehabilitation; and
WHEREAS, Clare has mentored and trained many new planners and project coordinators during her career, to ensure City standards were met, facilitate project management and delivery, and emphasize the importance of integrity and honesty in public service; and
WHEREAS, Clare Campbell is recognized by her peers and City staff for being professional, knowledgeable,
dependable and a team player.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Palo Alto does hereby extend its sincere
appreciation to Clare Campbell for her dedication and excellent service rendered to the City.
