YOUTH ARTS MONTH
WHEREAS, Palo Alto is proud to proclaim March 2024 as Youth Arts Month as part of the Council for Art
Education’s national observance to emphasize the value of art education for all children and to support school art
programs; and
WHEREAS, Youth Arts Month provide a forum to celebrate the skills children foster through art education
like problem solving, creativity, curiosity, observation, and communication; and
WHEREAS, the City’s Community Services Department proudly supports youth arts through, among other
programs, the Palo Alto Children’s Theatre and the Palo Alto Art Center; and
WHEREAS, the Children’s Theatre, now in its 90th year, serves more than 57,000 community members each
year with theatrical productions and programs for children, and also provides onsite classes, camps, and
production experiences throughout Palo Alto elementary schools; and
WHEREAS, the Palo Alto Art Center offers youth classes in drawing, painting, ceramics, fiber arts, digital
photography, fashion design, mixed media, and partners with the Palo Alto School District to bring multi-
disciplinary art lessons directly into the classroom.
NOW, THEREFORE I, Greer Stone, Mayor of the City of Palo Alto, do hereby recognize March as Youth
Arts Month in the City of Palo Alto
