HomeMy WebLinkAbout2023-11-27 - iSing's Performance at the 2023 World Choir GamesProclamation Honoring iSing Silicon Valley’s Performance at the 2023 World Choir Games WHEREAS, iSing Silicon Valley, a Palo Alto-based nonprofit, was founded in 2013 and has since established a deeply committed and talented musical community that brings together over 300 primary and secondary school girls in joyous music; and WHEREAS, through its rigorous musical training and growth opportunities, iSing nurtures girls’ individual voices, engages singers in an inclusive and collaborative community, and empowers them to pursue their ambitions; and WHEREAS, iSing is internationally renowned. Its choirs have performed in South Korea, France, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Austria, the Czech Republic, and Germany, and have collaborated with world-class artists; and WHEREAS, iSing won Dale Warland Singers Commission Award at Chorus America 2018 and the Grand Prize at the 8th International Robert Schumann Choral Competition in Zwickau Germany in 2018; and WHEREAS, iSing celebrates diversity through music by performing works from many cultures, commission works from under-represented composers and creating opportunities from singers to respond to the world through song; and WHEREAS, iSing was one of only two U.S. choirs invited to compete in the 2023 World Choir Games, the largest international choir competition. iSing won the “Champions of the World” title in the Musica Sacra a cappella category and the gold medal in the Youth Choirs of Equal Voices category. NOW, THEREFORE I, Lydia Kou, Mayor of the City of Palo Alto, on behalf of the entire City Council, do hereby honor and congratulate iSing Silicon Valley for its achievements at the 2023 World Choir Games and commend iSing Silicon Valley for a decade of artistic excellence.
